The Leadership Survey is an independent research project that listens to leaders across roles, sectors, and countries to build a clearer, evidence-based picture of how leadership is really experienced. It is open to you if you are aged 18 or over and have responsibility for the performance or development of others, whether or not you hold a formal leadership title.

It asks what leaders find challenging, what has genuinely shaped them, and what would most strengthen their leadership going forward. A particular focus is what leaders themselves, beyond models and theory, have found genuinely useful. No assessments, no benchmarks. Data will be collected on an ongoing basis. Preliminary findings will be shared on this site by end of 2026, with further reporting as the project develops. When findings are published, you can reflect on your own responses against the wider picture, and consider what that means for your own development.

By participating, you contribute to an independent, evidence-based understanding of leadership experience that can benefit other leaders.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes. Responses are not linked to your name or identity and are reported only in aggregate.

The Leadership Survey was founded and is led by Christian Horne, based in Sweden (LinkedIn).
